| The River Benue, the second largest river in Nigeria, is serviced by
a double bridge at Makurdi. The first bridge was constructed in 1923 and has the national railway line passing through it,
linking the north and south of Nigeria. The second bridge was built in 1978 and is a major vehicular bridge
